Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a Standard Visit Visa for the UK?

If you’re in Indonesia and planning to travel to the UK, you’ll need to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa in advance. After submitting your application and attending an appointment at the visa application centre, it typically takes around 15 working days to process, although delays can occur during peak travel seasons. Applying early is highly recommended.

How long can I visit the UK with a Standard Visitor Visa UK?

Once approved, a Standard Visitor Visa UK generally allows you to stay for up to 6 months per visit. You must complete the online application and may also need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) in the future, depending on changes in UK immigration policy. If you’re a visitor in transit visa holder, your stay will be limited to the duration of your travel layover.

Can I enter the UK multiple times with a Standard Visitor Visa UK?

Yes, you can—if your visa is issued as a multiple-entry visa. With a UK Standard Visitor Visa, you’re permitted to leave the UK and re-enter within the visa’s validity period. However, you still need a visa for each trip unless your visa explicitly allows multiple entries. Always check official requirements via gov.UK before travelling.

Standard Visitor Visa UK Bank Statement Requirements?

When applying for a UK Standard Visitor Visa, you’ll need to apply with supporting financial documents—this includes a bank statement from the last 6 months showing you have sufficient funds to support your stay in the UK without relying on public funds. This helps prove your ability to sustain yourself during your time in the UK as a Standard Visitor.

Can I extend my stay in the UK?

In most cases, you cannot extend a Standard Visitor Visa beyond the initial 6 months. Only in exceptional circumstances (such as medical treatment or academic research) may an extension be considered, and a separate application must be submitted to UK Visas and Immigration.

Can I get a refund if my visa is denied?

Unfortunately, the visa application fee is non-refundable, even if your application is rejected. To avoid refusal, ensure you meet all eligibility requirements, provide accurate supporting documents, and apply for a visitor visa with complete information as outlined by UK Visas and Immigration.

Can I switch to a different visa category while in the UK?

Generally, you cannot switch from a Standard Visitor Visa to another visa while in the UK. If you plan to come to the UK for extended periods (e.g., work, study, or marriage), you must apply from your home country. Categories like the Marriage Visitor Visa or work visa require different supporting documents and are subject to distinct criteria. The visitor visa does not allow you to live in the UK long-term.

Can I work or study on a Standard Visitor Visa?

No, you must apply for a relevant visa if your goal is to work or study. The Standard Visitor Visa is only intended for tourism, business visits, and short-term activities. Getting a visitor visa does not permit employment or long-term education while in the UK. You’ll need to apply for the appropriate visa category based on your objective.

How can I track my visa application status?

After submitting your application, you can track your visa status online using the reference number provided. For applicants from Indonesia or those arranging visits to the UK, LMI Consultancy can assist in monitoring your progress and ensuring your documents meet the latest requirements. If you need a Standard Visitor Visa, working with a trusted consultant like LMI can help simplify the process.
