Work KITAP (Permanent Stay Permit)

The Work KITAP (Work Permanent Stay Permit) caters to foreign nationals working in Indonesia with the intention of long-term employment.
Eligible applicants are foreign nationals who have spent at least five years as a BOD or BOC member for the same Indonesia firm under a Working KITAS. You must apply for this KITAP from within Indonesia.
What You Can Do with Work KITAP
- Legally work and earn income in Indonesia.
- Stay in Indonesia for extended periods without renewal.
- Open and operate a business (if permitted by the KITAP)
- Access specific rights like property ownership (terms apply).
- Enjoy the stability of permanent residency.
What You Cannot Do with Work KITAP
- Work in positions or industries prohibited by law.
- Engage in activities outside the scope of the KITAP’s purpose.
- Transfer the KITAP to another individual.
- Ignore reporting requirements to immigration authorities.
- Overstay beyond the permitted period.
Visa Validity
The Work KITAP is for 5 years. You must obtain a KITAS first and hold the same sponsor for over 5 years. Once you have the same sponsor (with no breaks) you can then opt to convert to a KITAP.
Document Requirements
- Original sponsorship letter from the sponsor
- Original Letter of Authorization (Surat Kuasa)
- Color copy of ID card (KTP) of the company sponsor’s PIC/Director
- Colour copy of company sponsor documents (Business License, Notarial Deed, Approval from Ministry of Law and Human Right, Domicile, NPWP, TDP)
- Original Passport
- Original ITAS of 1st – 5th
- Original current HPK or RPTKA
- Original current Pengesahan RPTKA or IMTA
- Colour Copy of MERP (on passport)
- Colour Copy of DPKK funds payment proof (the yearly USD 1,200)
- Color Copy of SKTT
- Other documents if required
Document Requirements
- Company’s deed of establishment and its amendments (if any)
- Decree Approval (Legalisation) from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (MoLHR) and its amendments (if any)
- Company’s Tax Registration Number
- Business License of OSS RBA
- Business Identification Number
- Company’s Organisation Structure
- Mandatory Manpower Report / Wajib Lapor Ketenagakerjaan Perusahaan (WLKP)
- BPJS Employment registration number/certificate
- ID Card, NPWP, and photograph of the Indonesian (local) Director
- ID Card of the Indonesian counterpart
- Sponsor letter with the company’s letterhead (for application letters, draft provided)
- Employment contract between company sponsor and the expatriate (draft provided)
- Appointment letter to the Indonesian counterpart
- Company’s bank account statement
- Username and password of TKA online account and immigration account
- Recommendation letter from Investment Board of Coordinator (BKPM) or Related Ministry
- TDPSE License (PSE) from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (for Electronic system business field only
- Employment contract between company sponsor and the expatriate (draft provided)

Can I cancel my Work KITAP?
Yes, a work KITAP in Indonesia can be cancelled. This is typically done through an Exit Permit Only (EPO) process when the foreign national:
- Leaves Indonesia permanently
- Changes employers
- Changes their KITAP type
It’s important to follow the correct procedures to avoid overstaying or other legal issues.
How can I work using a KITAP?
You need to obtain an additional Work Permit in order to work in Indonesia.
Do I need an ERP (Exit Re-entry Permit) if I already have KITAP?
All KITAS/KITAP holders are required to obtain a Multiple Exit Re-Permit (MERP) from the local immigration authority. This document grants permission for travel to and from Indonesia. This permit, in the form of an immigration stamp affixed to your passport, necessitates your physical presence in Indonesia for processing. This permit can be given when the KITAS/KITAP is still valid for a minimum of 6 months.
