Family KITAS simplifies the process of obtaining the necessary permits for your family to stay and experience Indonesia together.
The Family Sponsored KITAS visa specifically assists children from mixed marriages. Individuals with this KITAS are ineligible for work in Indonesia, and the expiration date is determined by the sponsor’s KITAS expiration date.
What You Can Do with Family KITAS
- Obtain a multiple entry visit during the KITAS/ITAS validity period.
- Open a bank account under your name.
- Lease land for personal use.
- Obtain a driver’s license.
- Buy a car or motorcycle under your name.
What You Cannot Do with Family KITAS
- Work for an Indonesian company or engage in paid employment.
- Start or operate a business directly in Indonesia.
- Sponsor additional family members independently.
- Convert the KITAS to another visa type without meeting specific requirements.
- Access rights or benefits beyond what is granted to dependants.
Visa Validity
Dependent KITAS validity mirrors the primary KITAS holder’s term, lasting between 1, 2 and 5 years.
Document Requirements
- Application letter
- Original Passport with validity minimum 18 months prior expiry date
- Proof of living expenses of at least US $2000 or equivalent for the last 3 months.
- Recent coloured photograph
- Curriculum Vitae
- Travel Itinerary
- Family card (KK) of Indonesian parent.
- Proof of birth of the Foreigner, such as:
- Birth certificate issued by an authorized government agency; or
- Proof of birth reporting at the Indonesian Mission or the authorized government agency in Indonesia, if
- Foreigners are born abroad.
Special Requirements
- Domicile letter from sub-district (kantor kelurahan) or domicile letter from Building Management
- Marriage Certificate (Akta Nikah) of parents

Are Family Sponsored Visas and Repatriation KITAS the same thing?
Although they look alike, these visas are different. Unlike this visa for children with one Indonesian and one foreign parent, the Repatriation KITAS is for former Indonesian citizens.
Is it possible to cancel a Family KITAS?
