If the foreigners does not enter the Republic of Korea immediately visa issuance, will the visa get expired?

Yes, a Korean Visa, especially a tourist visa, has a validity period of 90 days from the date of issuance unless stated otherwise. This means that the visa holder must enter the Republic of Korea within 90 days after receiving the confirmation of visa issuance.
If the traveler does not use the visa within that timeframe, it will automatically expire, and a new application would be required. It’s important for tourists to carefully check the entry validity period stated on their visa and plan their trip accordingly.

What are the types of visa to enter South Korea multiple times?

There are two main systems through which South Korea grants Multiple-Entry Visas, depending on the traveller’s visa eligibility and travel purpose:

1. Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA)

This is applicable to nationals from visa-free countries. Once approved, K-ETA allows multiple entries within a 2-year validity period for tourism, business, and short-term visits.
Travellers can check their visa information and eligibility on the official K-ETA website or through the Korean Embassy or Consulate of South Korea in their country.

Eligible Countries for K-ETA Multiple Entry include:

  1. Dominica
  2. Guam
  3. Hong Kong
  4. Macau
  5. Montenegro
  6. Morocco
  7. Serbia
  8. United Kingdom
  9. Vatican City (Holy See)

(Note: 67 countries are temporarily exempt from K-ETA until December 31, 2025.)

2. Traditional Multiple-Entry Visas

These are issued under specific visa categories through Korean Embassies or Consulates, often based on bilateral agreements, frequent travel records, or business needs.

Common Eligible Groups:

  1. Frequent Business Travellers from countries like the U.S., Japan, EU, China, Canada, and Australia
  2. Tourists with a positive history of previous visits to Korea
  3. Participants in cultural or academic exchanges
  4. Immediate family members of Korean residents
