FAQ
We recommend that you apply for an eVisa at least seven days before the actual date of travel.
Generally, nationals eligible for the eVisa Taiwan must complete an online application prior to travel. While some countries are permitted to obtain a landing visa, eligibility is limited and subject to change. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (RoC Taiwan) recommends all travelers to check current regulations before traveling. Most travelers should apply online in advance to ensure smooth entry and to legally stay in Taiwan.
My child is included in my passport. Do I need to submit a separate e-Visa Taiwan application for my child?
Yes. Even if your child is listed in your passport, a separate online application for an eVisa Taiwan is required for each individual traveler. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all individuals, regardless of age, must hold their own visa approval to enter and stay in Taiwan.
No. Only nationals of the following countries can obtain a landing visa if they meet certain conditions: Türkiye.
Yes. Travelers entering Taiwan via cruise ship are subject to Taiwan’s entry requirements, including holding a valid visa to visit Taiwan, unless they qualify under a visa waiver program or are transiting without disembarkation. Passengers should confirm with their cruise line and the Bureau of Consular Affairs prior to travel.
Yes. When submitting an application for your child, please use your child’s ID data as well as your passport information.
Yes. Citizens of specific countries—such as those from Southeast Asia—may be eligible to apply for a Travel Authorization Certificate instead of a regular visa. This special authorization is issued online and allows for short visits under certain conditions. Visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for eligibility criteria.
Yes. Taiwan offers a visa waiver program to citizens of several countries, allowing them to enter Taiwan without a visa for short stays (typically 14 to 90 days, depending on nationality). However, travelers should still verify entry requirements, especially if they plan to transit, work, or stay beyond the permitted period. Those not eligible for visa waiver must obtain a visa to visit Taiwan before arrival.
Currently, eVisa Taiwan applications must be completed individually. The online application process does not support group or family submissions in one form. Each applicant must fill out a separate application, even if traveling together.
If I am a resident of China Mainland and about to visit Taiwan after staying in Indonesia, do I need a visa?
Yes. Residents of China Mainland must obtain special approval before they can travel to Taiwan, regardless of prior stays in third countries like Indonesia. They must apply through the Bureau of Consular Affairs and may also require a Resident Certificate if their visit is long-term or family-related. Entry policies may differ significantly for Mainland Chinese residents.
