Relocating in Indonesia as an expat involves more than just packing. It is important to officially notify the Indonesian Immigration Office of any changes to your registered address. Legally, those with KITAS or KITAP permits must undergo Address Mutation.
The term “Mutasi Alamat KITAS/KITAP” describes the official procedure for updating your Indonesian address on your KITAS or KITAP from your previous residence to your current one. This process officially updates your KITAS or KITAP address with the relevant Immigration Office.
Reporting Requirement
- Moving to a New Residence: Must report to the nearest Immigration Office for address mutation (Mutasi Alamat) within a specified time frame
- Change of Domicile within the Same City: Required to update the registered address on your KITAS or KITAP; submit necessary documents to the immigration office
- Change of Domicile to a Different City: Must report the new address and follow the mutation process at the local immigration office in the new city
- Change in Civil Status: Any changes in marital status or dependents must be reported, as they can affect immigration status and address registration
- Change of Sponsor or Guarantor: Notify immigration about changes in sponsor or sponsorship details, which may require updating the registered address
Document Requirements
- Sponsorship Letter from your Sponsor/Guarantor
- Copy of the Sponsor/Guarantor’s KTP (Indonesian ID Card)
- Original and copy of your Passport
- Original and copy of your KITAS/KITAP
- Address Change Letter from the relevant local authority, e.g., local Kelurahan or RT/RW. This is a crucial document confirming your new address

You don’t require a new KITAS/KITAP. Updating the address on your permit simply requires a Mutasi Alamat application.
