An Exit Permit Only (EPO) is required for anyone with a temporary Indonesian KITAS if they are leaving the country, changing jobs, or changing their KITAS status. This also applies when the KITAS expires.
The EPO’s primary function is ensuring the return of all immigration documents to the immigration office and the accurate removal of your information from their system.
*We would advise not leaving this requirement to the very last minute as the process takes approximately 3 – 5 working days. Once stamped you will have to leave the country within 5 days

As mentioned earlier, you will still be able to exit the country with a valid KITAS as you are allowed to travel; however the problem lies when/if you want to return, whereby the immigration may have some uncomfortable questions for you upon your arrival. Please remember, cancelling your KITAS the official way, with the EPO is mandatory.
If you have left Indonesia without submitting documents for an EPO stamp, you will have to apply for an Exit Re-entry Permit (ERP).
