While it’s known by many names such as Impresario KITAS, Impresario Visa, Freelancer KITAS, etc, the Artist KITAS is a single visa designed specifically for foreigners who work as artists.
KITAS Artist Visas are specifically for arts and entertainment industry and last for a maximum of six months.
This visa is commonly used by professionals in the creative and performing arts, including hairdressers, makeup artists, models, musicians, DJs, artists, and actors, as well as sports professionals and coaches.
What You Can Do with an Artist KITAS
- Legally stay in Indonesia for the duration of the KITAS validity.
- Perform artistic activities such as music, dance, acting, or visual arts, as stated in your KITAS application.
- Participate in cultural events, concerts, and performances approved by Indonesian authorities.
- Travel freely in and out of Indonesia during the validity period.
What You Cannot Do with an Artist KITAS
- Engage in employment outside of the approved artistic activities.
- Work in non-artistic roles or industries without proper permits.
- Own or operate a business directly under this visa.
- Sponsor family members for dependent visas unless specified otherwise.
- Change your visa purpose without formal approval from immigration authorities.

Work Visa (KITAS)
A Work KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) is issued to foreign nationals formally employed by a registered Indonesian entity. It enables legal residence and employment in Indonesia and requires a sponsorship letter, a valid job title, and approval from the Ministry of Manpower. This visa is essential for long-term expatriate assignments and skilled professionals.
Investor KITAS
The Investor KITAS is designed for foreign investors who own shares in an Indonesian company (PT PMA). It offers stay and work rights without requiring a separate work permit (IMTA), significantly simplifying the relocation and operational setup process for investors. Minimum capital investment requirements apply, aligning with Indonesia’s focus on attracting sustainable foreign capital.
Document Requirements
- A letter of application and a letter of guarantee from the sponsor providing employment for the foreign national.
- A valid passport with at least six months validity.
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover living expenses during the stay in Indonesia, in the form of bank statements for the last three months in the foreign national's or sponsor's name, showing a minimum balance of USD 2,000 or the equivalent in another currency.
- Recent colour passport-sized photographs (taken within the last year).
- Curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé
- Travel itinerary.
- Work permit from the Ministry of Manpower.
