Frequently Asked Questions

Can I study in Japan using Multiple Entry Visa?

No, you cannot study in Japan using a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa. This type of visa is typically issued for tourism, business, or short-term visits, and not for academic purposes. Students who wish to enter Japan for long-term studies must apply for a Student Visa, which is a new visa type that requires acceptance from a recognized Japanese educational institution.

The eligibility for a Multiple-Entry Visa is generally limited to individuals who travel frequently for short-term reasons and hold a valid passport. For study purposes, applicants must visit the Consulate or Embassy of Japan in Indonesia and complete a separate application process. Note: A visa transfer of an issued visa from a short-term category to a long-term student visa is not permitted—you will need to apply for a new visa that suits your intended purpose.

What are the visa fees applied for the Multiple-Entry Visa Application from LMI Consultancy?

For those looking to stay in Japan more than once within a given time period, LMI Consultancy offers streamlined support throughout the visa application process. The consultation fee for a Multiple-Entry Visa application depends on service scope but includes pre-checking documents, guidance through the Japan Visa Application Centre (JVAC), and support until visa issuance.

These fees do not include service or handling charges from JVAC or LMI Consultancy. For exact costs and timeline, you can contact our professional consultants for a FREE one hour consultation.

Is Multiple Entry Visa to Japan eligible for a visa extension?

No, the Multiple-Entry Visa is not eligible for a visa extension in Japan. According to the latest visa information, all visa applicants holding either a Single Entry Visa or Multiple-Entry Visa are expected to exit Japan before their visa expires.

If you wish to visit Japan longer than 90 days, you must apply for an appropriate long-term visa through the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia. Extending short-term visas, including tourist or business types, is generally not allowed once you’re in the country.

Can I process the Multiple Entry Japan Visa application online?

No, currently the visa application cannot be completed entirely online. While certain documents may be submitted digitally through agents, applicants must still submit original documents and passports in person at the Japan Visa Application Centre (JVAC).

Processing typically takes 5–10 working days, but may take longer during peak seasons or if additional documents are required. Note that this process is separate from the Visa Waiver Program, which only applies to specific nationalities and conditions: not Indonesian passport holders.

Can I apply for a multiple entry visa Japan wit electronic passport?

Yes, Indonesian citizens who hold an electronic passport (e-passport) are eligible to apply for a visa, including a Multiple-Entry Japanese Visa. This visa allows for multiple visits, with each stay not exceeding 90 days per visit.

Applicants must submit their application at JVAC, and processing usually takes a few business days, depending on the completeness of your documents and travel history.

Are Citizens of G7 Countries Granted a Multiple-Entry Visa to Japan Automatically?

Citizens of G7 countries, which include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, are often eligible for visa waivers or simplified processes. However, being from a G7 country does not automatically mean they are granted a Multiple-Entry Visa. Visa issuance still depends on travel history, purpose of visit, and proper documentation submitted to Japanese authorities.
