The Silver Hair Visa is a recently introduced Indonesian Immigration visa that caters to tourists of retirement age who desire live in Indonesia to retire.
This visa is one of the type of visas which allows foreign retirees aged 60 years or older to enter Indonesia and stay for up to 5 years, either through individual or corporate investment.
Important: To be eligible for a Silver Hair Visa, applicants must maintain a deposit in a state-owned bank account as per stated on the Visa Requirements.
Silver Hair Visa is valid for five years and is eligible for visa extension. Please note that the Silver Hair Visa Indonesia must be activated within 90 days of issuance.
For foreigners who want to stay in Indonesia long term during their retirement, the KITAS E33F or commonly known as the Retirement KITAS, offers a renewable temporary stay permit. This is one of the popular visa options as an alternative to the Silver Hair KITAS, allowing retirees to enjoy life in Indonesia for a year without engaging in work-related activities. Applicants must meet age, income, and accommodation requirements to qualify.
The Retirement KITAP provides a permanent visa and stay permit for retirees who wish to reside in Indonesia beyond the annual renewal cycle. Ideal for those looking to fully retire in Indonesia, this permit grants a longer length of stay, reducing administrative burdens and offering greater long-term residency security.
Indonesia offers several types of Golden Visa schemes under its evolving immigration strategy, aimed at attracting qualified foreigners and strategic talent. These visas, backed by the Indonesian Government, are structured to support long-term residence and align with national development goals in investment, talent, and global mobility.
This type of Golden Visa is issued to global professionals who possess exceptional expertise or skills in priority sectors. Backed by the Indonesian Government, it provides long-term residency and work rights for individuals who can significantly contribute to Indonesia’s innovation, research, and tech landscape.
Designed for world-renowned figures or individuals with outstanding achievements, this visa recognises personage status. The Indonesian Government grants this type of Golden Visa as part of its effort to honour contributions that elevate Indonesia’s international standing in diplomacy, culture, sports, or philanthropy.
Tailored for wealthy foreign nationals seeking to reside outside their country of origin, this visa enables a long-term stay in Indonesia without the need to engage in employment or local income generation. It supports individuals looking to retire or maintain a second residence under Indonesia’s strategic relocation initiative.
Issued to former Indonesian citizens and their descendants, this visa allows returnees to reconnect under the legal framework of current laws and regulations. It supports reintegration by providing residency rights, reflecting Indonesia’s commitment to diaspora engagement.
Targeted at entrepreneurs and foreign investors, this visa allows long-term stay with work visa benefits for individuals involved in business and investing activities. The scheme is part of the Indonesian Government’s commitment to attract sustainable capital and support the ease of doing business in key economic sectors.

The Silver Hair Visa, while similar in purpose to the Golden Visa for retirees, presents a new program with its own set of requirements and associated benefits. A Retirement KITAS offers a viable option for foreign nationals 60 years of age or older who do not fulfill the Silver Hair Visa’s investment prerequisites.
Make sure to submit your proof of deposit by the deadline. Ignoring this may complicate your visa status.
Obtaining a retirement KITAS grants Indonesian tax residency. Compliance with Indonesian tax law mandates the payment of income tax, according to total income levels. Seeking expert advice is recommended to better understand Indonesian tax requirements.
